Gulmarg, Dec 24 (KNO): The renowned ski resort of Gulmarg came alive on Tuesday as it hosted the Jashn-e-Chillai-Kalan, with the Baramulla DC highlighting the administrative efforts to enhance the destination appeal. The event aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir, witnessed an array of cultural activities, including traditional folk music and dance performances, which captivated tourists and locals alike. Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said an increasing number of tourists are flocking to Gulmarg. He highlighted the district administration’s efforts to further enhance the destination’s appeal. “Our goal is to make Gulmarg a vibrant and dynamic tourist destination. Alongside infrastructure development, we are focused on creating engaging activities that showcase Kashmir’s culture while ensuring seamless enjoyment for tourists,” Sherpa said. He said that Gulmarg is set to host a mega New Year celebration organized by the Tourism Department and the much-anticipated 5th edition of the Khelo India Winter Games in February. The Baramulla DC reassured tourists and locals about the administration’s readiness for the winter season, with active control rooms and fully operational machinery to address any potential challenges posed by heavy snowfall. Anticipating a significant tourist influx, the DC urged visitors to explore the unparalleled beauty of Gulmarg and experience the hospitality of Kashmir. “Through these events, we not only aim to attract tourists but also to create employment opportunities and strengthen the local economy,” he added. The Jashn-e-Chillai-Kalan marked the beginning of Gulmarg’s vibrant winter season, leaving attendees enthralled with its cultural touch besides, promising more exciting events in the coming months—(KNO)
